COLUMBUS – The All-Central District high school football all-star teams, selected by a media panel from the district, was released Wednesday, and there was no shortage of local players earning honors. Bloom-Carroll, which cruised to their fifth consecutive Mid-State League-Buckeye Division championship and will be playing in a Division III, Region 11 quarterfinal on Friday against Tri-Valley, placed 11 players on the all-district team, including the top offensive and defensive honors. Junior running back Dylan Armentrout, who broke the single-season rushing record, was named the Central District Division III Offensive Player of the Year, and senior linebacker Andrew Marshall was selected as the Defensive Player of the Year....

The Bloom-Carroll boys’ soccer team has shown all season when they fall behind early, they have the grit and perseverance of coming from behind to win. Facing an early deficit Saturday against Columbus Academy in a Central District Division II district championship game, the Bulldogs showed they would not go down without a fight. However, while the never-say-die Bulldogs kept battling back and time after time, they came up just short in a hard-fought 5-4 loss against the Vikings and finished as district runner-up at Westerville Central High School. “We have fought back the year, and we talked at halftime, it seems like we have a flare for the dramatic and we like to dig ourselves in holes, unfortunately, sometimes you can’t get out of them,” Bloom-Carroll coach Thomas Robinson said. “We had an amazing run and showed a lot of tenacity, and with a couple of seconds left, we thought we should have had a penalty kick, but we accept it and move on. We didn’t go down without a fight, which is something we have done all season.”...
